Forgive my absence last night, it wasn’t intentional. One glass of wine just has a way of turning into…well, more, and then suddenly I’m far too inebriated to sit down and edit photos, think about text, and actually publish a blog post. Whoops.
In my defense, I was at a networking event when all this drinking and socializing went down, and I came out the other end with two new friends! So all’s well, right?
Can I just take a moment to say how much I love networking events? I think perhaps I treat them a touch less seriously than some folks do (I wore a feather in my hair, beelined for the alcohol, and mostly just scoped out cute boys), but in all honesty, they are an incredible way to get your name, your professional desires, and your company out into a city in which you are otherwise anonymous.
I’m pretty sure I handed out my business cards last night like they were $1s at a strip club. (Is that totally inappropriate? Hah, oh well!)
The day, which was Monday, not known for its positive mornings, started out on a high note. Folks, this is one of my all-time favorite breakfasts.
Yum! It’s been a while since I’ve thrown together this breakfast, but I purchased a zucchini this weekend for this explicit purpose. I simply cooked the oatmeal normally (with 1/2 a banana, milk, water, vanilla, cinnamon, pinch of salt) then tossed in a 1/3 of a grated zucchini, stirred it up and plated it with flax meal and walnuts. So yummy! Probably even better with some chocolate chips or maple syrup, now that I think about it….
I think the time change gave me jet lag….or something? I was SO HUNGRY yesterday at like, 10:00, so I had to dig in to something. I finished the rest of this after lunch.
The rest of the afternoon creeped along, and although I wanted to resist, I ultimately broke out a late afternoon snack.
I really, really don’t like that I’ve been eating so many bars these days, but I can’t deny how easy and tasty they are. I’d much rather have yogurt or something REAL instead, but it’s honestly hard enough for me to make lunch and breakfast every morning, let alone snack. And our fridge at work is a bit too much of a disaster to really consider storing groceries there…so alas. Bars it is.
And good thing I ate it! They took the food away at the networking event FAR too early in the night. Hello, I paid for that!
Luckily the setting made up for THAT injustice. (#whitegirlproblems)
I’m quickly becoming a big fan of the Denver Business Journal – this is the…3rd event I’ve attended that they hosted (?), and each one is just better than the one before! This one took place in a ballroom at the Brown Palace Hotel, which is one of the fanciest hotels in Denver. The setting was so lovely, and there was a drawing for a 2-night stay there at the event! Sadly, I didn’t win, although I was rooting HARD for myself. Alas.
And everyone went home happy. Especially me, because a gentleman I met that night bought me a cab….
Oh yeah, totes twerkin’ it.
Have a lovely Tuesday!!!
