My city, way up high.

Today I had the pleasure of joining a co-worker, his wife, and their friends for another climbing excursion. I’d very much like to make this a weekly adventure until the weather forbids it!

There’s just something so peaceful, so calming, and so zen about sitting on a mountainside watching the world pass by beneath you.

It was a perfect afternoon.

I don’t bring a cell phone, I don’t bring work, and I don’t bring a bad attitude. It’s just me, the rock, and the adventure.

Let's do this.

The day began with some bad nightmares I’d rather not have dreamed, but I remedied the situation with a morning treat – Starbucks and a Craigslist purchase! I bought a dining table – so I can eat real meals like a civilized person!!!

The first order of the dining table: pancakes.

Pumpkin protein pancakes and an apple.

These were tastier just by virtue of resting on my new table. Pictures to come!

Then I packed up and was off!

Fuel for the day!

We hit the ground running by jumping on the route our buddies already had up. Score!

Get it girl!

I LOVE watching other female climbers do their thing. Women climb with their legs, feet, and balance (the way you’re supposed to climb), and while men tend to do the same thing, they often muscle their way up the rock with the extra upper body strength they possess. My past has involved watching a lot of male climbers, so watching other women today was a TREAT. It’s so inspiring and educational!

Thanks to Katie for being such a great photographer!!!

The boys putting up another. I love climbing with brave men, too. :)

Us girls all happily toproped. Annalisa dominated this route.

Katie and David cleaned a route.

While I climbed another one.

The boys watched while I cleaned it up.

Sidenote: the giant factory behind the guys is the Coors brewery. From way up high, it still looks enormous because, in fact, it is. It’s the largest in the country! Tours (and the complimentary beers afterward) are free! And as it turns out, one my all time favs, Blue Moon, is brewed there! Yup, a visit is absolutely on my to-do list.

But back to climbing.

Just cleaning a route, no biggie.

David led another one (and wore his helmet like a responsible person).

All in all, a solid day of climbing.

I love this town.

And then I face-planted into takeout Chinese food. This gal is plumb tuckered out. And SORE ALL OVER. There is pretty much no part of my body that isn’t hurting right now.

And I like it. :)
